Counselor Karina Solorzano 

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Karina Solorzano and I am the school counselor for Sierra High School. I am so happy to be here and be part of the Sierra team.

I have an undeniable passion for school counseling and always knew this was my dream job. What I love most of high school level is the students’ ability to learn more about themselves. This is a great time for students to explore their interests and plan for the future. I am excited to meet and support our students through their journeys.

I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Cal State Los Angeles. I then decided to further my education and earned a Master’s degree in Educational Counseling with a concentration in School and Family Based Counseling from the University of La Verne.

As a school counselor, my primary responsibility is to promote academic, personal, and social development for all students. I look forward to offering support to all Sierra students!

My name is Michael A. Chavez. I am excited to be Sierra High School's School Social Worker. 

I received my bachelors in Sociology with a minor in Gerontology from Cal State University of Los Angeles. I received my masters in Marriage and Family Therapy and my administrative credential from Hope International University. Lastly, I received my PPS credential in School Counseling from University of Redlands. 

I have spent many years working with students and assisting them to be the best versions of themselves. My passion is to help students and their families navigate struggles they come across. I believe that developing strong relationships is a foundation to students' success and growth. My goal as a School Social Worker is to develop rapport with each and every staff and student that is on our campus and to create a welcoming environment for all students.

I am grateful to be part of the Sierra High School community and I look forward to continuing the important work we are doing at Sierra High School.

Hello, my name is Lauren Quiroa, and I am the College and Career Pathway Advisor at Sierra High School. I am thrilled to be joining Sierra High School this school year and to be part of such an amazing team! 

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Child Development from Point Loma Nazarene University and my master’s degree in Educational Counseling, along with my PPS credential, from Azusa Pacific University.

I am passionate about helping students navigate their postsecondary and career pathways. I provide support with resume building, job applications, interview preparation, career exploration, college applications, and financial aid assistance.

I look forward to getting to know our students and families and supporting each student as they take their next steps. My goal is to help every student feel confident, prepared, and empowered to pursue their future goals!

Sierra High School has welcomed a new community liaison, Ms. Thach, who brings more than 20 years of retail management experience and strong skills in leadership, communication, customer service, and relationship building. She chose to become a community liaison because she wanted to use her experience to make a positive difference in the lives of students, families, and staff. She was especially drawn to Sierra because its smaller environment allows her to build more personal connections with students and the school community.

As community liaison, Ms. Thach serves as a bridge between Sierra High School and the surrounding community. She helps connect students and families with resources, organizations, services, and opportunities, including employment, college and career information, transportation, academic support, and community programs. She also hopes to develop partnerships with local businesses and organizations that can provide students with jobs, scholarships, mentorships, donations, and other opportunities. During her first year, her goal is to build trust, listen to students and families, and become someone they feel comfortable turning to for support.

Outside of work, Ms. Thach enjoys spending time with her family, attending concerts and football games, traveling, and taking cruises. She is also a proud mom and a dog mom to two French Bulldogs named Denver and Bronco. Her message to Sierra students is, “Your past does not define your future.” She encourages students to believe in themselves, ask for help when needed, and remember that setbacks do not determine their future. She looks forward to connecting people, creating opportunities, and making a positive difference at Sierra, one student and one family at a time.
